70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, press note by Prime Minister Conte

Dalla Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri:

10 Dicembre 2018

10 December 1948. Seventy years ago, the United Nations General Assembly approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

A simple text comprising thirty articles centred on human individuals, their dignity and their liberty, and against all forms of discrimination and injustice. They enshrine the right to one’s confidentiality and reputation, to form a family and to work. It is a declaration that must be necessarily applied consistently with modern-day global challenges and that we deem to be an effective response to the horror of all wars. It is a declaration that has always inspired the action of our Government.

This is why today we celebrate it as a fundamental text for our legal, economic and social civilization.
